If you know me you know I am a wordy person, I always have a story to tell and I want moments fully documented. I want my kids to look back and have all the details, you can think of this site as our family journal, or more importantly the momma diary.

Katrena has been a busy girl...

Sorry, sorry, sorry, I haven't posted in awhile, honestly I have no excuse, and Sara I have not forgotten about the tag, I will do it tomorrow, promise.

Katrena has been a busy girl, to start off they had a wildlife expert come to visit the first graders on 2/8 and he brought animals (reptiles) for them to see and touch. Now everyone that knows Katrena's mother knows that the sight of a snake on T.V. will move me to tears, and Katrena said she wasn't sure she wanted to participate. I looked her in the face and told her that I did not want her to be scared like me, and that I thought she should go, she loved it. She touched a black king snake, a boa constrictor, different kinds of lizzards, chameleons, and rattlesnake skin, they were able to see and of course not touch a black widow, a scorpion, baby armadillo, gila monster, and multiple others that neither of us can think of at the moment. This was a great learning experience and she came home talking about it for days. We also spent that weekend at Gary and Jody's where we watched movies and went shopping, while the boys went mountain biking.

The next weekend on Saturday Feburary 16, Katrena had a visit from Scott and Stephanie. They had a lot of fun, they went to the hole in the rock, the Phoenix Zoo and to Castle's and Coasters, but I think her favorite part was swimming in the hotel pool. (While she was with them Mom and Dad went on our first date since November.)

This weekend has already been a busy one, last night they had a Mother Daughter night at Katrena's school, where we did scrapbooking. We went and had a lot of fun just being together working on a scrapbook of our vacation last summer. Katrena's school, like most, did a fund raiser called Jump Rope for Hearts. If they had at least a $10 donation they were able to participate in Saturdays jump rope a thon. They were in groups of six, her group was called the Puppy Lover Jumpers, everyone in her group was in fourth grade except for her of course and they were very sweet to her. Yes Mom, I thanked them afterwards. After taking turns jump roping for awhile, they then had a contest among the boys and then the girls as well as a dance off and then a raffle drawing. It was nice to spend two hours outside in the sun, especially for a good cause.

I truly love how invoved Katrena's school gets the family. In between all of the fun listed above, she also got a new cute haircut, and has played daily with her friend Makayla.

Her parents lives have not been quite as fun and exciting, but here's the latest...

On another happy note Brent finished finals this last week (YEAGH!!!) and now has a week off of school. As always I am so proud of how hard he works.

We had a quick ultrasound last week because there was a little cause for concern. Everything appeared to be okay, babies heart rate was 144, and was measuring 14 weeks, 6 days and weighed about 3 oz. I have my regular appointment and ultrasound with my perinatologist on Friday, I will blog about that next weekend. For now, know that everything is okay, and I am feeling the baby move some, obviously not a lot, but it is reassuring. I will be so happy when this baby is kicking the daylights out of me, since that is the only way I knew something was wrong with Katrena and Braxton. We are officially 15 weeks today and counting.

Love to all, we miss you.

Karey and Alex good luck at competition!!!

The Passing of a Prophet and a New Dawn.

This week has been filled with many ups and downs, I have felt my self to be on an emotional roller coaster.

First, on January 27th came the news of the passing of our beloved Prophet, President Hinkley. How I loved this man. President Hinkley became the Prophet when I was in High School, a period of much growth and development. He was the Prophet when I first truly gained my testimony and when I regained it after some wavering of my faith. He was a man of strength a man of power a man filled with the spirit and love for all those around him. A man who could make anyone smile and laugh, no matter how serious a situation. He was a true Prophet of God, I could have listened to him for hours, he helped all men desire to find good in themselves and those around them. He taught of service to others. Have you ever seen so spry of a man humbly giving service to ALL those around, those who believed in The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints and those who did not. How often do you see someone in their 70's, 80's let alone 90's with so great of a dedication to a cause. Thank you President Hinkley for helping me to learn to serve and to help me find my testimony through your humble teachings.

On Saturday Feb, 2nd, Brent and I hooked the internet up to our television so that we could watch the funeral services of President Hinkley, what a beautiful service. How happy we were to find that even though we no longer live in Utah, we were still able to participate via internet in the beautiful service. How easily we both found ourselves brought to tears as we watched pictures of our loving prophet flash before us on the screen. Realizing we would not see this wonderful man stand at the podium built from the walnut tree in his yard again, or hear his beautiful message. How touching to watch the cars travel to the cemetery where he would lovingly be laid to rest next to his dear sweet wife, and to see the people and children lining the streets waving their white handkerchief. I loved hearing the bag pipes play some of President Hinkley's favorite songs, but hearing Praise to the Man play as the bag pipes faded into the distance was very moving.

A New Dawn...
Monday morning Feb 4th I once again found myself turning on the computer to watch the press conference being held in Salt Lake to announce the new first presidency. Expecting that the new Prophet would be President Monson and that President Eyring would be the new first counselor, I anxiously awaited the news of the 2nd counselor and was surprised to hear that Elder Uchtdorf was called. I guess in some ways I was expecting one of the older members of the Quorum, but as I listened to the questions being asked by the press and listened to each member of the Presidency speak, I felt the confirmation that this was called of God. One of the questions asked at the press conference had to do with the fact the members of the first presidency and Quorum of the 12, were predominantly from UT and more importantly the United States. In today's time there are more members outside of the US that within so how appropriate that one of the first presidency be from outside of the US, that is something that he alone has in common with so many members now. How perfect.

Baby Update, we are 12 weeks!

Hello!!! We hope that all is well with everyone, all is well here. We went to the Doctors on Friday
February 1st, we were 11 weeks, 6 days. They did an ultrasound first thing and our little miracle was moving all around and kept putting his/her hand up to her face, upone seeing this I burst into tears with relief and joy. Everything looked well, the baby is measuring 12 weeks 1 day which is a blessing. As many of you know the only indication that we will have that something is going wrong will be the babies growth, so when the Ultrasounagrapher told me how big the baby was measuring I started crying again. The babies stomach showed that he/she had already started swallowing amniotic fluid, not suprising as hungry as I am all the time. After the ultrasound I had some additional blood work done, and then I got to meet my new perinatologist.

It is very important to me that I have a Doctor with strong faith and a belief in God. I have been very lucky with my OBGYN's so far and was very happy to find myself talking to my new perinatologist and having faith and God come up in our conversation. We discussed my history, which brought on a new wave of tears, he of course took my concerns very seriously and listened very intently. He stated that they would normally suggest another extensive set of tests, but upon learning whom my perinatologist was in Salt Lake he informed me I was coming from the best and that he had pretty much wrote the book on coagulation problems in pregnancy. He felt pretty confident with their analysis of my situation. He went on to say that he also felt this was likely not a genetic problem given all of the information, which my Doctors in Salt Lake felt pretty confident about as well, and that all signs did indeed point to a coagulation problem. He stated that he wants me on heparin untill time to deliver and he also wants me to start taking low dose aspirin. I am to see him every 4 weeks and my regular OB every 4 weeks. Starting at week 32 he will see me every two weeks for biophysical testing, this is similar to an ultrasound and a nonstress test combined. He said that we may possibly start this as early as 26 weeks if any of us (myself included) feel this is neccessairy. We will be watching ultrasounds closely to make sure that the baby is growing on schedule if at anytime the growth starts to slow down we will have to find a new plan of action. He told me that he hopes that I have the chubbiest baby ever!!! I told him I wanted a 10lbs fat little baby with rolls. He said we will definitely do our best. In the mean time I will be having ultrasounds every 4 weeks, so get ready for lots of ultrasound photos. We are so thankful for all of your well wishes and prayers.
