It is hard to believe that Ava is 8 months, she is such a joy. She is a very happy baby, she goes with the flow, but doesn't really enjoy shopping more than an hour tops. I am really going to have to work on that one. Katrena doesn't like to shop either, where did I go wrong. Maybe its that we are constantly telling them we have no money... who knows.
Here are some of Ava's milestones from her 8th month:
3/4- started smacking her lips
3/5- raises herself up on her arms and shakes side to side and tries to lunge forward. (This is her crawling attempt)
3/14- first time in a swing
3/16- claps, scoots backwards, clicks tongue, had her first sucker
3/17- fell asleep in the high chair for the first time
3/22- fish lips
3/24- makes smooch sound, had her first fever and threw up.
You can read about Ava's 6th month here.
And you can read about Ava's 7th month here.
Warning:
If you know me you know I am a wordy person, I always have a story to tell and I want moments fully documented. I want my kids to look back and have all the details, you can think of this site as our family journal, or more importantly the momma diary.

Spring Break- Day 4, Peter Piper Pizza...
For Katrena's fourth day of Spring Break we headed to Peter Piper Pizza which is one of her favorite places to go. She had a lot of fun and was happy to spend the day with Mom and Sis, we then headed to Ross' where she got a cool new drawing book, you can switch animals around and do the head of an elephant with the body of a tiger and the end of a snake. She thought it was pretty awesome.
As for day 5, we had planned on going to the movies, but Dad ended up being off work, so we just hung out as a family. I promised her a movie day next time she's out of school for the day (well not Easter weekend as my li'l sis will be here, but maybe we will go to a movie with her, who knows.)

Spring Break- Day 3- Trip to Mesa Temple for Achievmtnt Days
On Wednesday Katrena's achievement day group went to the Mesa Temple and saw the Joseph Smith movie and short film about families. They then went out and looked at the Temple and talked about eternal families. Ava and I tagged along as they needed one more driver. Although Katrena had seen the movie before it really upset her to see Joseph Smith tarred and feathered as well as to the Saints displaced from their home, being thrown around and their property distroyed. So we went out and listened to a presentation about Christs life and ministry, after a few minutes a few other girls from the ward joined us. That video is so powerful and moving and evoked alot of questions on our ride home from the temple. I love when we are on a long drive and Trena just asks me lots of questions or shares stories from school, I feel they will be gone before I know it and I just want to grab on to every moment that I can.

Spring Break- Day two- Doctor appointment and the park
For Katrena's 1st day of spring break we did nothing but clean house and relax. I told her the only way we could enjoy her week off and have fun is if the house and definitely her room were clean. So no fun that day :(
Day 2: Started off with a Dr appointment for Katrena. She has had a cold for over a week and it appeared to be getting worse instead of better, so I decided it was time to go in. Glad that I did as Katrena can never just get sick, she has to go for the gold and always has to catch at least two things at once. This time it was an ear infection and a sinus infection. We are on meds now and hoping to continue recovering. She is very sad as she had planned on swimming every day this week and I had to tell her that do to her ear infection there would be no swimming this week. I became the mean mom very quickly!
We had planned to go to the park for a picnic lunch today and so we did. We went to Suharro Ranch Park, we love their playground. We had a great time. We ate and then Trena played for about an hour and a half while Ava and I visited with a lady we met, swang and went down the slide.

Today was also St Patricks's Day. The morning was rushed with the Dr appointment so I didn't make a "Green" breakfast and totally spaced the corned beef dinner, totally slacking in the fun mom department. I did make "Green" yummy pistachio pudding cupcakes though, and if I say so myself they were heavenly, so I was somewhat redeemed.
Here is a link to a NEW post that took place in December and is dated January, pathetic I know!

Read Across America...
Today was Read Across America at Katrena's school. The school had volunteer readers come and read to the classes throughout the day and started off the event with a parade. The younger grades did one book for the whole class, Katrena's class did Billy Goats Gruff. In the older grades each of the students were able to pick their own book and could dress up if they wanted too. When Katrena was in Kindergarten in UT, they did this too and she chose to dress up as Matilda, I really wish I had taken a photo of her, she was so cute.

I was able to go to the parade this morning (it lasted all of 10 minutes) and then I was able to be a guest reader for her class. I read My Schools a Zoo and A Bad Case of Stripes. We had a little more time left so the teacher gave me another book about Dragon's to read, but I don't recall the name. They also had two other guest readers in their class that day. One came dressed as a fairy and another brought his guitar and played for them. I was the boring Mom, but that's okay; because as I've mentioned a hundred times the last week, I just love being able to go and participate so often at her school.
Here are some photos from today:
The parade Trena is the one in the hot pink skirt and polka dot shirt.
Here are some of the 6th graders, check out Anne of Green Gables (one of my all time favorites), this little girl, well young woman is in my ward here in Arizona. Her costume was great.
