Warning:

If you know me you know I am a wordy person, I always have a story to tell and I want moments fully documented. I want my kids to look back and have all the details, you can think of this site as our family journal, or more importantly the momma diary.

"Who needs to go to the zoo, when there is one right in your face..." ~ Katrena

This is what Katrena had to say about our bird experience last Thursday. First off as many of you know the birds, quail, doves, and some that we have know idea what they are start entertaining us at 4 in the morning outside of our open windows. These birds go strong until dusk, you can always see them on the carport roof, or on the railings, running across the road or along the grass, and they make sounds that I have never heard birds make before. We also have wild bunnies that run around the apartments and two little friendly ducks that you will periodically see enjoying a puddle of water. At night as we are laying in bed you can hear coyotes outside howling not to far away. About a month ago I was going to do laundry and I heard a splash in the pool, now it was in the low 70's, warm yes, swim outside weather, not quite. So I had to look and see who was in the water. To my surprise it was our two friendly ducks, now you are probably guessing thats where the picture above comes from, but no, thats an even better story. Last Thursday as I was doing the dishes I had left the door open with the fan in the doorway to blow cool air in, trying to not turn on the AC in March, when all of a sudden I hear a rushing of feathers. I turned my head to see what was going on and there to my right sat a dove on the garbage can in my kitchen looking around, and then he went to the entertainment center to sit for awhile. Now just as I am thinking I have got to get this bird out of here, off it flew. Only to return a few minutes later and perch itself on the fan. I am watching this and thinking oh my gosh what am I going to do if that birds feathers get sucked in side. Just about that time I start to hear a click, click, click as the dove is now getting a pedicure curteous of my fan. Needles to say that scared him off, and I haven't seen him again.

Now for the picture above, later that same day as my friend and I are sitting by the pool watching the girls swim, to our dismay the two ducks come flying in and land in the pool with the girls. They were so scared the ducks were going to poop in the water, it was hilarious. I wish I could have gotten a picture of the look on the girls faces. It was priceless. Wish we could share the zoo with all of you.

I finally did it...

I finally bought my first items for the baby. I went to buy yarn for her blessing afgan; because I wasn't going to make the same mistake I did with Braxton and wait to long to start it. While I was there I figured I should check out any cute items for the baby. I know how did I ever make it 20 weeks without buying one single item, its actually simple, in the beginning I was too scared. Given our history I was too nervous to buy anything, and then the better I began to feel that things were going to be okay I wanted to wait till we knew what we were having. So here we are, of course the first clothing item could have been something practical like pajamas, and I did consider it, but its a girl! I felt I had no choice but to go with the girly sun dress (it was a two pack one is yellow the other is flowers), and with Katrena there cheering me on I knew it was time to take the plunge. Then we saw this cute six pack of bibs and they are all adorable, but when Katrena saw this one, she said we had to buy it for Dad. I think she thinks this will help win him over a little ( she's also out on a bike ride with him right now to prove that girls can do boy things too). I am so excited to see her beautiful clothes hanging in the closet!

It's Summer in Arizona...

Okay, so technically its not, but it sure feels like it. We have been enjoying the 85 degree whether and Katrena has been begging me to go swimming so I finally caved. We had our first swim of the season yesterday. This is a picture of her and her friend Makayla, she lives here at the apartments and is a year older. The two get along really well, and are always playing pretend weather they are swimming, on their bikes, going for a walk, playing on the playground or playing barbies. Its pretty cute. I think the two of them look like they could almost be sisters. They don't have early day on Friday's here, they get out early the first Wed. of every month; however this week was parent teacher conferences so they had early day Thurs and Fri. This has allowed us to hit the pool by 1:30 and play for two good hours, get home and cook dinner, bathe and still enjoy the night. At least I can, poor Katrena has been plum tuckered out each night.

So the question of the week: who's happier Brent or Katrena...

Sorry there are no ultrasound photos this week, our little tyke was very uncooperative, only wanted to show its spine. I had to lay on my side to try and get the baby to roll over, I went to use the bathroom and finally they completed the ultrasound with me on my side. We were able to get two butt shots though and it looks like Brent is going to be really out numbered, we are having a precious baby girl. I really didn't care either way, Trena really wanted a girl and Brent's heart was beyond set on a boy. I told him it just meant we had an excuse to have another baby. So it looks like we get to have a pink room, Katrena was a little concerned about having boy things in her room and I am thinking of all the cute sister things I can do. So we are all about pink around here. The baby was measuring right on, 19 weeks, 3 days, and weighing 10 oz. They hope to get better measurements in 4 weeks.

We're 17 weeks!!!

Hey its me with a little update and a beautiful profile of the newest little North!

I have to say I think this is one of the cutest ultrasound pictures ever. This was taken 2/29/08 when we were 15 weeks, 6 days. Everything looked great HR was around 144, and the baby was moving and as you can see his/her legs were in prime kicking position. I was supposed to see the perinatologist that day as well, but do to scheduling mixup, my appointment was scheduled for a time he was not in the office, I didn't see Dr Padron. He reviewed everything the following monday and the nurse gave me a call and said that he felt everything looked great and that we would see me in 4 weeks, unless I felt that I needed to see him. I told her I felt that things were going ok and I had an appointment with my regular OB that week anyways.

I saw Dr McKernan on 3/6 (16 weeks, 5 days) and he took another quick peak at baby (the pics were not nearly as good, however we did get a good skeleton picture of his/her face). Babies HR was in the 160's and he again confirmed that things appeared to be going well and to continue with my meds. I told him that I was going to Salt Lake on the 3/13(Thanks again Mom and Dad) and asked if that was ok, he said it would be on one condition, I had to promise him that I would not get injured while I was there and that I could not fall down, I was also to make sure that everyone I was with new I was on heparin in case of an emergency. He's just like a concerned father, I love it.

So all is well on the baby front I seen Dr Padron and have my 19 week ( is it a boy or is it a girl, still torn over if I really want to know) ultrasound on 3/26 and see Dr McKernan again on 4/3 at which time I will start seeing him every other week. The baby is beginning to become quite the wiggle worm and takes after his/her father, it already doesn't want to start being productive until 11 o'clock at night. The North family knows what I am talking about!

Can't wait to see all our Utah Family and Friends in just 4 more days.

Love to all,
Kim

I've been tagged...

and I am a terrible friend for not getting around to this sooner. I broke my promise and I am sorry, but here it goes...

1- What was the best things you cooked last week? Lil cheddar meat loaves (katrena kept asking for more and more)

2- If money, time and babysitting were no object; where would you go
and with who? Probably some tropical not overly crowded island, with Brent of course. I just want to enjoy some quiet time away from his school and just enjoy each others company with none of life's interruptions.

3- When was the last time you cried? Seriously, I am pregnant, I cry everyday!

4- Five things you were doing 10 years ago?I was working for Cedar Breaks Lodge, attending college, single and dating, annoyingly independent, and was still in my teens!

5- Five things you were doing 5 years ago? attending college (I sound like a broken record), single mother of a 2 year old, working at Zeann's needlework part time, going on a cruise to mexico, and I had just met one of my best friends, Angie. ( I am a very boring person, I was 10 years ago, 5 years ago and today. I often think when am I going to have that wow accomplishment in my life, besides my children of course!)

6- Five things you were doing a year ago? working as a disability medical examiner, young womens leader, trying to re-discover Kim (I lost her amidst all the heartache and pain), arguing with my husband on when we were all moving to Arizona, working on organizing our photos.

7- Seven of your favorite hobbies: scrap booking, reading, movies, spending time with family, long walks, making craft projects, and sleeping.

8- Five favorite foods: chocolate zuchini cake, Cafe Rio sweet pork salad, fresh fruit, banana nut bread and right now, steak.

9- Five places you've been: Mexico, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, California, New Orleans.

10- Five favorite memories: The day Katrena was born, the day Brent asked me out (for the 2nd time), the day Brent proposed, the day Brent and I were married, and last summer when we went to California as a family.

Okay, so now that I am done, I really am depressed. I have realized that I am one of the most simplest, boring, people I know. Well now I know I need to accomplish something amazing and quick...
