Warning:

If you know me you know I am a wordy person, I always have a story to tell and I want moments fully documented. I want my kids to look back and have all the details, you can think of this site as our family journal, or more importantly the momma diary.

Ava's 2 months old...

Yesterday our baby girl turned two months old and had a day of shots. She got 5 shots in her legs and an oral dose of a shot, and then her mean mother took her in yesterday afternoon for 2 month photos. She slept the whole day and it was a chore to keep her awake for the photos. She was a trooper for her shots though, although she cried when she received the shots she immediately stopped when they were done, I didn't even have to pick her up to calm her down. I also have to say I've never seen a baby bleed that bad from shots before.

Ava is really beginning to coo quite a bit and will just stare at me while I am talking to her and even lifts one side of her mouth to smile at you, but just isn't quite there yet. She has learned to put her hand on the back of her binky to keep it in her mouth. Today she spit out her binky and she picked up the nipple part and was trying to stick the back side in her mouth it was very cute. She has recently started crying with real tears, which we saw a lot of yesterday, as she had a tummy ache and hurt from the shots, plus she had her first fever, made her Mommy and Daddy so sad. So because of the fever she also took tylenol yesterday for the first time.

She sure is growing though, here are her stats:

Weight: 10lbs 8oz (5oth percentile)
Height: 22 1/2 inches (50th percentile)

You would never guess this boobaloo was in the 5th percentile just 6 weeks ago.

Here is Ava's owie legs

Here are a few of Ava's favorite things:

As described below she loves her sister.

She loves to take naps with Daddy, Daddy is the only person she will actually take a real nap for. (she is actually laying on her back in this photo)

She loves Raggedy Ann, not sure if its the face or the bright clothes, but she will sit and stare at Raggedy and coo easily for 20 to 30 minutes after her diaper is changed. And she loves to suck on monkey's hands.

We are so thankful for our beautiful Ava.

P.S. I am officially caught up, Yeah!

Isn't she beautiful...

This pic was just to cute to not get a post of its own.

Katrena, Sunday September 21st

Katrena had never gone in for her 7 year well child check up so I took her in yesterday as well. She had to get the flu shot due to her asthma and then I guess a few years back there was a shortage of the chicken pox vaccine so she never got the 2nd dose and had to get that today as well. Her vision is 20/20, but she does need to go to an audiologist about her slight hearing loss. Other than that she's perfect, but we already knew that.

Stats:
Height: 50 in (75th to 90th percentile)
Weight: 54 lbs (75th percentile and due to height)

The Doctor was so cute, she told her she was tall and skinny like a super model, Katrena really liked hearing that.

Sisters...Today, Tomorrow and Forever

Katrena is such a great big sister, she loves Ava so much and is always willing to help. She is a bottle making pro.

Ava already recognizes when sister is around. I am not sure if its the way she talks, or the ten million kisses, but regardless if she is crying she will often quiet down and try to find her sister. I look forward to watching them grow up together, I know that Ava will look up to Katrena so much and that Katrena will be a great example to her.

Ava at 7 weeks...

Again, I am still playing catchup for the month (Ava is now 8 weeks), but this is beautiful Ava at 7 weeks.

When Katrena was 7 weeks old I took naked photos of her with this same green fleece blanket over her. It is fun to see how different they look from one another ( I will try to scan in a photo of Katrena later), and how differently they behaved (Katrena was much calmer and Ava is much bigger).

Family

So I was lucky enough to have my family come and see me from Sept 9th to the 14th. My Mom, Dad, and two sisters came from Utah , and my Grammy Ann and her sister my Aunt Alice came from North Carolina. It was so wonderful to have them here, but I really missed my Brother and his wife. We had a great time, my Dad was such a trooper driving all of us women around, Brent missed out on most of the fun because he was doing rotations. We were glad to have Brent with us at least for dinner each night and on Saturday. We shopped, shopped and shopped some more, we went to get pedicures and saw the 9-11 memorial at Tempe Lake, we ate yummy food and even tried fried pickles!!!

Now I have to take a moment to brag on my Dad and I hope he doesn't mind. I am so proud of my Dad, he moved us to AZ in January and as soon as he got back to UT he signed up for weight watchers. Since that time he has lost 81 lbs and counting. When I saw him in March I could tell a difference, but seeing him this month I was amazed. When my mom and Dad arrived Ava and I ran down to meet them and as they were walking across the parking lot, I couldn't get over how my Dad looked, he looked so amazing, and he looked so much like my Grandma Watts brother, my Uncle Ralph. I really almost did not recognize him. Dad, I am so proud of you, you are an amazing example to me. I love you.

The pics are in order except for the first two, and the first photo is sideways, and I don't know how to turn it. Its right on our computer, but who knows why its not right here, but it was to cute to not include.

Arizona Science Museum

Here is my great attempt to get caught up on blogging...

First off the awesome Science Museum, we went on Sat the 6th of September. The first weekend of the month you can get in free if you have a Bank of America credit card, Brent and I both have one so we only had to pay for Katrena, Score!

The first area is all about building a home, you see the foundation and then the boards, you can see the pipes running through the walls. The kids also get to see how electricity and plumbing work, and they can even overload the breaker, and create a floor plan.

After that we headed out into the hall where there are a few little things, I couldn't tell you what because at that point Ava started screaming, I picked her up and some man came over to talk to me about our little one. As I am standing there talking to him I feel something wet on my foot, I look down thinking she had spit up, nothing, then I feel something wet on my hand, again nothing. After about 5 minutes the man leaves and I take a good look at my daughter who is covered in poop, green poop, and so is mommy.

So off to the bathroom we go, to change Ava and wash both of us down. Think goodness for Family bathrooms as we were taking so long Brent and Trena had to come find us. Ava then decided she was hungry so we camped out on the couch for awhile and fed Ava. Things take so much longer now. So here is Ava screaming in the Bathroom...

Next we went to the area about the human body. By far one of the coolest exhibits I have ever seen. Not only was it informative but super fun as well. You could actually see someone performing heart surgery on a video being reflected onto the chest of a manaquin. They were things you could do to see how flexible you are, and they even had a giant nose you through balls into and it would eventually sneeze them at you. You could put your hand in some water and see how an ultrasound works in the pregnancy area. And Katrena and Dad even participated in a wheelchair race.

There was a small little music room, where you learned how sounds are made. (It was also at this point that Ava through up all over herself, not a good baby outing day!)

The next area you learned all about nature. You even experienced the elements of nature for your self. They play this awesome video and you get up on the platform and when they talk about fire, you feel the heat. With the tornado you feel the intense wind. With Hurricanes and Monsoons you actually got wet, and the earthquake made the ground shake. It was totally awesome, it actually made Trena a little nervous and she was grabbing her Dad's leg. Brent was trying to shield Ava, while I was trying to shield the camera.

Fun photo of Dad and Ava

The next section was the room on technology, there was a guy doing morris code. And this awesome screen that you could dance behind. There was even a computer that the kids could play on. The highlight though was below, this machine, camera, took your photo and then you could distort your imagine. So here are our distorted girls.

On the 3rd floor there was some more random stuff, but we had to hurry through because they were closing.

Here is the last photo of the day- Me with my girls.

We had such an awesome time and will definitely go back again!

End of August

Sorry I have been such a blog slacker lately. As you can tell by Katrena's hair, these photos were taken at the end of August, before the haircut and temporary loss of our camera. I just can't figure out how to find blogging time when I can barely find showering time!!!

The last weekend in August we went to the Phoenix Children's Museum, fun but Enjoyed the Children's Museum in UT and the Science Museum (post to follow) here so much more. I would possibly feel differently if it had been completed and Ava older or Trena younger, but needless to say Trena had a lot of fun. They had a room were you could make music and another where you played with all sorts of different balls, there was a grocery store and a restraunt type area, and a place to make crafts. Here is Trena with her pizza they even had a brick oven and a paddle to bake it with.

Here is Ava at 5 weeks, more alert, but still slept through the Children's Museum.

Katrena's new do...

Katrena decided that she wanted her hair cut to her chin, so today we went to have it cut. Once we got there they asked if we wanted it one length and I said yeah we probably should due to her natural curl. I really wanted a cute A-line style, I thought it would be adorable on her. So when the lady started cutting she said that she agreed an A-line probably wouldn't work, but maybe we could stack the back because she has a great cow lick at the nape of her neck so its going to flip out regardless, even with a straight cut. We decided just to go for it, and she loves it, I think it makes her feel very grown up. The best part though was when she told me, "I bet all the boys will be chasing me tomorrow!"

Sorry the photos are kind of dark, our camera is being repaired so all photos have to be taken with our video camera.
